Oman Cement Company and Raysut Cement Company have formed a new joint venture with Duqm Special Economic Zone Authority to build a plant on Oman’s central coast.

The new firm Al Wusta Cement Company plans to build a new facility to meet demand for infrastructure projects in the expanding port of Duqm.

The project is “subject to detailed feasibility studies”, the companies said in a joint filing to the Capital Market Authority.

The two cement companies have been planning a cement project at Duqm for several years. It was reported to be on hold in 2011.
