Oman's Transport & Communications Ministry has awarded National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) the design consultancy services contract for a 25-kilometre road linking Thamrait interchange and Mubaila interchange on the Muscat Expressway.
The design contract covers a 25km dual carriageway main road; a 5km dual carriageway link road; and 20km of service roads.
The eight-month contract also includes five interchanges, five bridges, six vehicular underpasses and overpasses, and two pedestrian underpasses and overpasses.
Oman’s Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (Sezad) also recently awarded local firm Premier International Projects the RO3.8m ($9.9m) contract to build a service road in Sezad’s Aman district.
The service road will extend 8.3km and will include four roundabouts with entrances and exits extending or leading to the main Sultan Qaboos Road.
The road construction works are expected to take 18 months.
