Agreement intended to streamline Poyry’s participation in power plant tenders
Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has signed a framework agreement with Finland’s Poyry for the provision of engineering services in the kingdom.
Through the non-exclusive framework agreement, Poyry and the state-owned utility hope to speed up the tender process for submission of bids to advise on SEC’s upcoming thermal power projects.
The work will continue to be assigned as individual service orders for specific projects and Poyry will continue to compete with other companies on a project-by-project basis.
The framework agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two parties. Poyry is participating in the study phase of two desalination plants for the Rabigh and Shoaiba power plants with a total electrical capacity of over 5,800MW for SEC.
Poyry is also involved in Saudi Arabia as owner’s engineer in the design and implementation of a seawater flue gas desulphurisation plant in Jeddah with a capacity of 750MW for Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC).
