Ashghal expects to receive offers by 10 October
Qatars Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has invited firms to bid by 10 October for the contract to supply and install intelligent transport systems (ITS) for about 64 kilometres of expressways and roadways.
The systems will become part of the integrated country-wide ITS, which Ashghal tendered earlier this year.
The scope of the ITS for the expressways and roadways includes:
- Monitoring and automatic incident detection
- Road user information systems
- Variable speed limits
- Roadway infrastructure protection
- Local communications network
The systems will be installed across eight road sections including the F Ring Road, Salwa Road, Dukhan Central, East Industrial, and two sections of the East West Corridor. They will also be installed in the C Ring Road and in the Corniche.
The project is expected to be completed within about 27 months from award, or around early 2020, two years prior to the holding of the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
