

Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has invited firms to bid for the contracts to build road and infrastructure network for the planned 1,327-hectare residential project south of Al-Wukair City in Qatar’s Al-Wakrah Municipality.
The project is divided into four packages, which have been tendered separately. The client has set a submission date of 31 October for the tender.
The work will include the construction of a single and dual carriageway road network of varying widths.
The scope of work for the four packages are very similar. They include:
- complete foul sewer network, including house connection
- full electrical network designs
- potable water to be made available to all plots
- street lighting
- civil works for a full Communication Regulatory Authority (CRA) network to be installed to provide telecommunications to all plots.
- interim roads to access the area and individual plots
- interim pavements, which will be laid to ultimate design finish levels
- interim measures surface water system to prevent carriageway flooding, utilizing verges, infiltration trenches, side swales and borehole soakaways
MEED understands the interim measures designs are expected to be completed during the tender period, and will be provided to the selected bidders.

The proposed residential project is a new master planned development located approximately 3km south of Al-Wukair City, 8km southwest of Al-Wakrah City and 18km south of Doha City.
Upon completion the residential community is envisaged to comprise:
- 3,508 single family villas
- 161 single family mixed-use units
- 247 utility plots
- 17 commercial plots
- 16 schools
- 6 government reserved plots
- 1 hospital
- 32 mosques
- 45 parks
- 2 unallocated plots
- 5 parking
- 2 sports and recreation centres
- over 348 open spaces or green areas
- Grand Masjid
