Title: Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi

Biography: Sheikh Mohammed, the younger brother of the ruler of Abu Dhabi and president of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, became Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi in January 2004 and deputy supreme commander of the UAE armed forces in January 2005.

He was born in 1961 and is the third son of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan. He is also chairman of the executive council of Abu Dhabi, which is responsible for development and planning in the emirate as well as head of Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development. Since its establishment in 2002, he has been head of government-owned investment body Mubadala Development Company.

Having been educated in the UAE, Mohammed, like Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum of Dubai, graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, in the UK in 1979.
