Hyder Consulting submitted two options for the contract

Bahrain’s Works Ministry has opened the financial offers for the consultancy work on the improvement of access roads at the Bahrain International airport (BIA).

Five consultancy companies made an offer, with two of these companies offering two options for the contract.

UK’s Hyder Consulting offered two options for the contract, both priced lower than those offered by the other consultancy firms.

The consultancy firms and their offer are:

  • Hyder Consulting (UK) ($0.99m - option 1), ($1.05m - option 2)
  • Aecom Middle East (US) ($1.15m)
  • Egis Group (France) ($1.19m)
  • Dar al-Handasah (Lebanon) / SSH International  (Kuwait) JV ($1.46m)
  • Parsons Global Services (US) ($1.72m - option 1) ($2.43m - option 2)

The $1.1bn main construction contract for the expansion of the Bahrain International airport (BIA) was awarded to a team of Dubai’s Arabtec Construction and Turkey’s TAV in early 2016. Specialist systems such as passenger air bridges, baggage handling systems, moving walkways, and security packages have also been awarded.

Packages left to be awarded include a maintenance, repair and operation (MRO) hangar, airport information and communication technology (ICT) system, and an air traffic control centre building.
