US-based Wood Group has secured a framework agreement with Saudi Aramco to continue to provide engineering and project management services for the state-controlled oil and gas giant’s onshore capital programmes in the Kingdom.

The five-year multi-million dollar contract also includes three, one year extension options and will be delivered locally in Saudi Arabia, Wood Group said in a statement.

First awarded in 2010, the General Engineering Service Plus (GES+) contract extension will be supported by the company’s office in Al-Khobar.

The company in 2015 was also awarded an offshore maintain potential programme (OMP) contract by Saudi Aramco for greenfield and brownfield engineering services, procurement, and construction management support for new facilities in the Arabian Gulf.

Wood Group is an international energy services company with around $6bn sales and operates in more than 50 countries. The Group designs, modifies, constructs and operates industrial facilities mainly for the oil and gas sector.

The company sees significant growth opportunities in the kingdom Saudi and it will continue to invest in personnel development by establishing a dedicated training facility and employing 750 people to support company’s operations, Dave Stewart, the chief executive of Wood Group’s asset life cycle solutions business in the Eastern Hemisphere said in the statement.

Aramco, the world’s biggest oil exporter, plans to spend $334bn over the next decade in the kingdom to improve its oil and gas infrastructure.

The company, which accounts for more than 70 per cent of the kingdom’s revenue generation, in November awarded Saipem two deals with a combined value of $1bn for the development of the Marjan, Zuluf and Safaniya offshore oil fields.

A consortium of L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), a fully owned subsidiary of India’s Larsen & Toubro, and Emas Chiyoda Subsea, also bagged two contracts from Aramco. The first engineering, procurement, construction and Installation (EPCI) deals involve supply and installation four wellhead decks in the offshore Safaniya field and the second includes upgrades on 17 platforms in various offshore fields.

US-based McDermott was the latest to announce an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract award from Saudi Aramco to install jackets and platforms at the company’s offshore assets.
