New mall is located on site of old Central Market
Abu Dhabi-based Aldar Properties has opened World Trade Center Mall, a new shopping destination located in the old Central Market area in the UAE capital.
The mall houses more than 160 shops, 20 dining outlets, and an eight-screen cinema. It will also feature British department store, House of Fraser, for the first time in the Middle East and the companys first flagship store outside the UK and Ireland.
The mall is part of the wider mixed-use World Trade Center Abu Dhabi development, which comprises the WTC Souk with 250 retail outlets, WTC offices with 59 floors of office space and WTC Residences with 474 units. The development will also feature a Courtyard Marriott Hotel with 195 rooms.
UK-based Foster & Partners designed the mall, and the construction works were completed by the local/Lebanese Arabian Construction Company (ACC).
The World Trade Center Mall completes the transformation of Abu Dhabis historic Central Market area, which was and now remains the heart of shopping in the capital, says Mohammed al-Mubarak, deputy chief executive officer at Aldar Properties.
