Bids in for Dubai water reservoir projects

Reservoirs will have capacity to store up to 180 million imperial gallons a day of water

Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) has opened the bids for the contracts to develop water reservoirs at Nakhali and Lusaily.

Nakhali reservoirs 1 and 2 will have a total capacity of 120 million imperial gallons a day (MIGD), while the Lusaily reservoir will have a capacity of 60 MIGD.

The reservoirs are part of Dewa’s programme to upgrade and expand the emirate’s water network and storage capacity. The Nakhali reservoirs will increase Dubai’s storage capacity to about 1 billion gallons of water.

Dewa is expected to complete the project to develop a water pipeline from Jebel Ali to Al-Hebab in May. The pipeline will deliver water to Nakhali, Al-Aweer, Al-Qudra and the Dubai Endurance City areas.

On 24 June, Dewa received proposals for the consultancy contract for a planned 30 MIG water reservoir at Hatta.
