Concentrated solar power plant will have a maximum capacity of 200MW
Spanish contractor Sener has announced it has completed construction on the solar field for the 200MW Noor 2 concentrated solar power (CSP) project in Morocco.
Sener is the EPC contractor, in consortium with Chinas Sepco 3, for the estimated $2bn Noor 2 and Noor 3 solar Projects, which are being developed by Saudi Arabias Acwa Power.
The Acwa Power consortium was awarded the contract to develop the Noor 2 and 3 projects in January 2015. The Noor 2 and 3 projects are part of the Ouarzazate solar complex in the southern-central region of Morocco.
Sener also constructed the 160MW Noor 1 CSP project, which was commissioned in the first quarter of 2016. The Noor 1 project was also developed by Acwa Power.
The Ouarzazate solar complex is a key part of Rabats target for renewable energy to contribute 42 per cent of total power by 2020, and 52 per cent by 2030.
