Twin towers to be built in Downtown Dubai development
Local developer Emaar Properties has invited companies to bid by 9 February for the contract to complete the raft foundation for its Address Residence Sky View development in Dubai.
Located in the Downtown Dubai district, the project involves building a twin-tower complex that will house a hotel, 532 residential units and service apartments linking to the Dubai Metro and Dubai Mall. The height of each building will be over 230 metres.
Prospective bidders include the local Al-Basti & Muktha, the local/UK Al-Futtaim Carillion, Lebanons Arabian Construction Company (ACC), Canadas Brookfield Multiplex, Athens-based Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), and the local/UK Dutco Balfour Beatty.
The local NSCC is working on the piling package.
Late in 2013, Emaar received bids for other projects in its Downtown Dubai development, including construction contracts for the Fountain Views and the Fashion Avenue. Bids are being evaluated for the Fountain Views three-tower residential building, and Dutco Balfour Beatty is the frontrunner for the Dubai mall expansion. The Dubai mall expansion or, Fashion Avenue, will include building an additional 75,000 square metres of retail space for the existing shopping centre. The consultant is the UK-based Atkins.
Emaars other recent projects include expanding the Arabian Ranches development, the Dubai Modern Art Museum and the Dubai Opera House District.
