Bids are still being evaluated for the marine package of the Old Town Waterfront Development in the UAE’s northern emirate of Umm al-Quwain, according to sources familiar with the scheme.
Firms understood to have submitted a bid for the project include:
- Besix (Belgium/local)
- Bam International (Netherlands)
- Target Engineering (local)
- Dutco Balfour Beatty (local)
Umm al-Quwain Municipality is the project client.
MEED understands the contract covers dredging, reclamation, ground improvement and the construction of a quay wall.
Dubai-based developer, Emaar, is planning another waterfront project in the emirate. The marine works contract for the Umm al-Quwain Canal Project was retendered in August-September.
However, Emaar has yet to award the contract.
