Biography Jan Paulsson is a Manama-based lawyer working for the UK’s Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, specialising in disputes. He is co-head of Freshfields’ international arbitration and public international law groups. Paulsson has acted as counsel or arbitrator in many international disputes. He has conducted cases before the International Criminal Court, the UN Commission on International Trade Law, and the International Court of Justice. Paulsson is president of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration, vice-president of the International Chamber of Commerce’s International Court of Arbitration and a former head of the World Bank Administrative Tribunal. He holds the Michael Klein Distinguished Scholar Chair at the University of Miami in the US. Paulsson has degrees from Harvard University and Yale University in the US, and the University of Paris.
