Local group submits lowest bid for water management at Kuwait oil facilities

Kuwait is building several gathering centres to boost production

Mechanical Engineering and Contracting Company (MECC) submitted the lowest bid to execute upstream oil processing projects at gathering centres 9, 10, 20 & 22 in northeastern Kuwait.

The Kuwaiti firm submitted the lowest bid of $195m among seven qualified companies to carry out works on the centres for project owner Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). The firms that qualified and their bidding prices are:

  • Mechanical Engineering and Contracting Company - $195m
  • Heavy Engineering Industries & Shipbuilding Company - $238m
  • Arabi Enertech - $242m
  • Alghanim International General Trading & Contracting - $243m
  • Integral Services Company - $247m
  • IMCO - $256m
  • Gulf Spic - $265m

KOC is building several gathering centres to support oil production, which the country plans to increase to 4 million barrels a day (b/d) by 2020. The Gulf state produced 2.8 million b/d in October 2016.
