Mohamed Hasan al-Qemzi

Position: CEO, Zonescorp

Biography: Al-Qemzi currently holds the position of CEO at the Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones (ZonesCorp), where he is responsible for overseeing the organisation and ensuring that its activities support industrial growth in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Al-Qemzi’s main responsibilities include overseeing investor relation efforts, managing relations with stakeholders, in addition to advising board members on important decisions and to overall direction on the organisation.

Prior to joining ZonesCorp in 2009, Al-Qemzi was senior vice president of Abu Dhabi Polymers Park at Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corporation (ADBIC). He was responsible for the Park’s overall development. Al-Qemzi also enjoys extensive experience in industrial project management, project execution, procurement as well as sales and marketing. With a background in construction engineering management, he spent a significant time working on gas and petrochemical projects within Adnoc’s group of companies.

In previous roles prior to joining ADBIC, Al-Qemzi worked with Borouge Ltd in Singapore where he was responsible for the sales and planning of all company products in South East Asia, North East Asia, Middle East and Indian subcontinent. He was later assigned as the as purchasing manager where within a short period of time, he opened five branches of Borouge in New Zealand, Australia, China, Singapore (headquarters) and Abu Dhabi.

A UAE national, Al-Qemzi is currently a board member in UAE Genetic Disease Association (UAEGDA) (Public Utility) and Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) (Federal). Al-Qemzi holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering Management from California State University of Long Beach.
