US food giant to employ 300 people at new facility under construction at Hidd

The US’ Mondelez International is planning to invest $90m in a new food production facility at the industrial area of Hidd in Bahrain.

The facility will produce 90,000 tonnes of savoury and sweet biscuits, including brand names such as Oreo cookies and Ritz crackers.

To attract Mondelez International to the kingdom, Bahrain spent $80m on land reclamation at Hidd. This will allow the company, formerly known as Kraft Food, to build a factory that covers 250,000 square metres and will employ 300 people.

The factory will start production in mid-2016.
