New Oman Gas Company plant to supply industrial companies around Salalah

Oman Gas Company (OGC) has completed the Nimr gas-pumping plant project in Oman’s southern governorate of Dhofar after three years of construction.

The plant will increase the volumes of natural gas pumped to Dhofar, supplying the needs of Salalah Methanol Company, Dhofar Power Company, Raysut Cement Company, Octal Petrochemicals, and other plants in Raysut Industrial Area near Salalah.

The estimated $50m project, which has a pumping capacity of 529.65 million cubic feet a day, complements the gas pipeline from the Saih Rawl gas field to Salalah completed in 2003.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work at the Nimr plant was carried out by Muscat-based Galfar Engineering & Contracting, with the UK’s Mott MacDonald winning the project management consultancy (PMC) contract.

Last month, OGC awarded Argentinian engineering group Tecna the contract for consultancy work on a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) project in Salalah.

OGC is a state-owned gas transportation company, operating a large network of gas pipelines and associated facilities throughout Oman
