Oman to prequalify contractors for major road project

Planned road to link Dibba and Khassab towns in Musandam

Oman’s Transport and Communications Ministry (MOTC) has invited international and local contractors to prequalify by 22 July for the contract to design, build and maintain a road linking the towns of Dibba and Khassab in the Musandam governorate.

The planned 65-kilometre road will commence near Al-Khalidiya and extend eastwards, passing the town of Lama before ending near the town of Dibba.

The road project will have nine major junctions, 10 tunnels and 19 bridges.

Musandam is located in a peninsula projecting into the Strait of Hormuz and is separated from the rest of the sultanate by the UAE.

There are plans to build a new regional airport and two runways in the governorate.
