Qatar Airways lands first flight in Sohar

08 August 2017

Sohar is located about 173 kilometres from Dubai’s airports

The first of Qatar Airways’ three weekly flights between Doha and Sohar in Oman landed on 8 August at Sohar International airport.

The new Doha-Sohar route is envisaged to offset the Doha-Dubai route, which has been discontinued as a result of the embargo imposed on Qatar by the Saudi-led group of countries.

Sohar is located about 173 kilometres from Dubai’s airports. Flying time between the airports is estimated at up to 30 minutes.

According to Joe Rajadurai, Qatar Airways’ country manager for Oman, the three weekly flights will arrive in Sohar at 16:10 Oman time on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Two other airlines, Sharjah-based Air Arabia and Oman’s newly formed low-cost carrier SalamAir, operate three weekly flights from Sohar airport.
