Dubai receives bids for $800m of road projects

New infrastructure will be built accross the emirate

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has received bids for a series of major road construction contracts in Dubai.

The largest contract tendered involves the upgrade of the Al-Ain highway. The local Al-Naboodah Contracting Company is the lowest bidder with a price of AED941m ($256m), which is about 5 per cent lower than the second lowest offer of AED995m submitted by Beijing-based China State Construction Engineering Corporation.

The other bidder is the local Wade Adams Contracting with a price of AED1.2bn.

The consultant is US-based CDM Smith.

For the contract covering the Comprehensive Improvements of the Parallel Roads the lowest bidder is Beijing-based China State Construction Engineering Corporation with a price of AED793m ($216m).

China State’s price is about two per cent lower than the second lowest price of AED810m submitted by the local Emirates Road Contracting (ERC).

The other bidders are the local/Belgian Belhasa Six Construct at AED834m, India’s Larsen & Toubro at AED838m, and Turkey’s Gunal Mapa at AED876m.

The consultant for the project is US-based Parsons.

The lowest bidder for the contract to upgrade of Latifa Bint Hamdan Street in Al-Quoz is the local National Contracting & Transportation Company (NCTC) with a price of AED286m, which is about 10 per cent lower than the second lowest offer submitted by China State. The other bidder is ERC at AED359m.

The consultant is CDM Smith.

For the improvement of Interchange 7, the lowest bidder is China State with a price of about AED432m. The other bidder is Gunal Mapa. The consultant is the local office of Aurecon.

For the Extension of Tripoli Road and the Improvement of Algeria Street in the Mirdif area, the lowest bidder is L&T with a price of AED423m, which is about 9 per cent lower than the second lowest bid of AED462m submitted by China State.

The other bidders are NCTC at AED518m, ERC at AED577m, and Wade Adams at AED615m. Aurecon is the consultant.
