Local firm bids low for Kuwait water management facilities

Eight companies submitted bids for Kuwait Oil Company scheme

Mechanical Engineering and Contracting Company (MECC) submitted a low bid of $200m for a water management facility project at Kuwait Oil Company’s (KOC’s) southern gathering centres 3, 4, 7 and 21.

The Kuwaiti firm was one of eight companies submitting bids for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) tender. The companies and their bidding prices are:

  • Mechanical Engineering and Contracting Company: $200m
  • Alghanim International General Trading & Contracting (local): $242m
  • Heavy Engineering Industries & Shipbuilding Company (local): $245m
  • Arabi Enertech (local): $246m
  • Almeer Technical Services Company (local): $262m
  • IMCO (US): $271m
  • Gulf Spic (local): $274m
  • Integral Services Company (local): $279m

MECC also recently submitted the lowest bid on a tender to execute water management projects at KOC’s gathering centres 9, 10, 20 and 22 in northeastern Kuwait.

KOC is building several gathering centres to support oil production, which the country plans to increase to 4 million barrels a day (b/d) by 2020. The Gulf state produced an average of 2.8 million b/d in November 2016.
